What Is Breast Augmentation?

Breast augmentation, or augmentation mammaplasty, is a surgical procedure designed to enhance your breasts’ size and proportion. Also, some patients have breast augmentation to fix breast asymmetry. There are two primary ways in which to enhance breast size – breast implants or fat transfer.

What Breast Augmentation Can Do For You

Breast augmentation surgery is ideal for increasing your breast’s fullness and projection, balancing your breasts and hip contours for that hourglass shape, and enhancing your overall self-image and self-confidence.

Another common breast enhancement is correcting severely drooping breasts, often from weight-loss or aging. Along with a breast augmentation, in these circumstances, you may require a breast lift to give your breast that lifted and fuller look. Often, you can do a breast lift at the same time as your augmentation surgery.

Types Of Breast Implants

At Emmett Plastic Surgery, we only offer in the most advanced and safest breast implants. Women over the age of 22 can choose between new FDA-approved cohesive silicone gel breast implants, and women over the age of 18 can select from implants that are saline-filled. Each type of implant has its own set of benefits which Dr. Emmett can discuss with you during your initial consultation.

The choice between saline and silicone implants often confuses patients. Dr. Jennifer Emmett has helped many patients understand the unique benefits of saline and silicone implants and has given them the exact information they need to make the right implant choice.

Saline Implants

While both saline and silicone implants have outer silicone shells, their contents are the main difference. Saline-filled implants contain a sterilized solution of salt water. Therefore, if the implant does happen to leak, your body will naturally and easily absorb the saline with no negative side effects. However, the implant is not filled before surgery. Dr. Emmett will place the empty shell into place and them fill the implant with the appropriate and predetermined amount of saline solution.

Silicone Implants

Silicone implants contain a cohesive silicone gel, which is equally as safe as saline, within the outer silicone shell. In the unlikely event of a rupture or leak, the gelatin-like substance is self-binding, which prevents it from spreading beyond the area of the implant itself. In addition, the FDA-approved silicone implants we use have unique cohering properties. This enables the silicone inside your implant to behave as a solid, which gives it tremendously realistic contouring effects. A silicone implant is pre-filled and the gelatin-like quality makes some patients feel that they look and feel more like natural breast tissue.

Breast Augmentation Frequently Asked Question

If you are considering breast augmentation, you may wonder about the safety of breast implants. The Institute of Medicine’s findings in 1999 and 30 years of clinical experience demonstrate that breast implants are quite safe. Breast implants, like any other medical device, are not intended to last a lifetime, and you will need to schedule annual follow-up check-ups.

You should also know that at Emmett Plastic Surgery, we take every precaution humanly possible to make certain your implant procedure is flawless from a safety perspective. We pride ourselves on our unique approach to helping you find your ideal breast size by utilizing a highly customizable sizing bra to give you a realistic physical simulation of what your breasts will look like after your enhancement procedure. This contrasts to the computer-generated images that others offer, which may not accurately reflect your potential results or may not give you a comprehensive understanding of what your new breasts will look and feel like on your body.

Using our sizing bra to accurately show your own body how your results will look gives you added convenience and more realistic simulation. Our approach and emphasis on providing you with your ideal enhancement results have led to overwhelming patient satisfaction, and you have the added comfort of knowing you will be happy.

Breast augmentation is considered an elective procedure and is generally not covered by most insurance plans. However, Dr. Emmett provides various financing options through CareCredit®, Simmons Bank, and Prosper® Healthcare Lending to make breast augmentation available and affordable to everyone. Emmett Plastic Surgery also accepts cash, personal checks, and major credit cards.

Financing Options

CareCredit® specializes in providing funding for medical procedures. They offer a health care credit card that allows the holder to use it for their plastic surgery procedure or treatment. Like any credit card, a minimum monthly payment is required when there is a balance on the card. This is an easy solution for treatments, such as dermal fillers, that require repeated appointments to maintain.

Simmons Bank has extensive experience helping businesses achieve growth goals, including expansions and rehabs. Let us put that experience to work for you. We can help you explore your financial options and customize a plan that best suits your business needs. Find the area of expertise you wish to explore below to learn more about the types of financing available to you.

This financing option works in two ways. First, they work with healthcare facilities to give them the ability to offer financing directly to their patients. They also provide financing directly to patients who want to avoid the often high-interest rates on some credit cards. Their application process is simple and fast, and the loans have no prepayment fees or penalties.
